Through Time And Bitter Distance"[1] Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EDED FGFG HIHI JKJK

Unknown to you I walk the cheerless shoreA
The cutting blast the hurl of biting brineB
May freeze and still and bind the waves at warA
Ere you will ever know O Heart of mineB
That I have sought reflected in the blueC
Of these sea depths some shadow of your eyesD
Have hoped the laughing waves would sing of youC
But this is all my starving sight descriesD
-
I-
-
Far out at sea a sailE
Bends to the freshening breezeD
Yields to the rising galeE
That sweeps the seasD
-
II-
-
Yields as a bird wind tossedF
To saltish waves that flingG
Their spray whose rime and frostF
Like crystals clingG
-
III-
-
To canvas mast and sparH
Till gleaming like a gemI
She sinks beyond the farH
Horizon's hemI
-
IV-
-
Lost to my longing sightJ
And nothing left to meK
Save an oncoming nightJ
An empty seaK
