'Twixt earth and where the sunlight beats | B |
- | |
A vagrant band of mischiefs these | C |
With wings of grey and cobweb gown | D |
They live along the edge of seas | C |

They chase and frolic frisk and tease | C |
At blind man's buff with all the town | D |
- | |
And when at eventide the sun | E |
Breaks with a glory through their grey | F |
The vapour fairies one by one | E |
Outspread their wings and float away | F |
In clouds of colouring that run | E |
Wine like along the rim of day | F |

Athwart the beauty and the breast | G |
Of purpling airs they twirl and twist | H |
Then float away to some far rest | G |
Leaving the skies all colour kiss't | I |
A glorious and a golden West | G |
That greets the Lifting of the Mist | H |
