The Lifting Of The Mist Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABAB CDCDCD EFEFEF GHGIGH

All the long day the vapours playedA
At blindfold in the city streetsB
Their elfin fingers caught and stayedA
The sunbeams as they wound their sheetsB
Into a filmy barricadeA
'Twixt earth and where the sunlight beatsB
-
A vagrant band of mischiefs theseC
With wings of grey and cobweb gownD
They live along the edge of seasC
And creeping out on foot of downD
They chase and frolic frisk and teaseC
At blind man's buff with all the townD
-
And when at eventide the sunE
Breaks with a glory through their greyF
The vapour fairies one by oneE
Outspread their wings and float awayF
In clouds of colouring that runE
Wine like along the rim of dayF
-
Athwart the beauty and the breastG
Of purpling airs they twirl and twistH
Then float away to some far restG
Leaving the skies all colour kiss'tI
A glorious and a golden WestG
That greets the Lifting of the MistH
