Low Tide At St. Andrews Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBDD EFFEGG HIIHJJ

NEW BRUNSWICKA
-
The long red flats stretch open to the skyB
Breathing their moisture on the August airC
The seaweeds cling with flesh like fingers whereC
The rocks give shelter that the sands denyB
And wrapped in all her summer harmoniesD
St Andrews sleeps beside her sleeping seasD
-
The far off shores swim blue and indistinctE
Like half lost memories of some old dreamF
The listless waves that catch each sunny gleamF
Are idling up the waterways land linkedE
And yellowing along the harbour's breastG
The light is leaping shoreward from the westG
-
And naked footed children tripping downH
Light with young laughter daily come at eveI
To gather dulse and sea clams and then heaveI
Their loads returning laden to the townH
Leaving a strange grey silence when they goJ
The silence of the sands when tides are lowJ
