And creeping close to these | B |
Long shores that lounge at ease | B |
Old Erie rocks and ripples to a fresh sou' western breeze | B |

At scurrying up with ragged edge then laughing blow away | C |
Just leaving in their trail | D |
Some snatches of a gale | D |
To whistling summer winds we lift a single daring sail | D |

Bestowed on Erie with her waves that foam and fall and lift | E |
We laugh in your wild face | F |
And break into a race | F |
With flying clouds and tossing gulls that weave and interlace | F |
