Easter Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABACACDEDEAFAGABAB BBBBABABDEDE

Lent gathers up her cloak of sombre shadingA
In her reluctant handsB
Her beauty heightens fairest in its fadingA
As pensively she standsB
Awaiting Easter's benediction fallingA
Like silver stars at nightC
Before she can obey the summons callingA
Her to her upward flightC
Awaiting Easter's wings that she must borrowD
Ere she can hope to flyE
Those glorious wings that we shall see to morrowD
Against the far blue skyE
Has not the purple of her vesture's liningA
Brought calm and rest to allF
Has her dark robe had naught of golden shiningA
Been naught but pleasure's pallG
Who knows Perhaps when to the world returningA
In youth's light joyousnessB
We'll wear some rarer jewels we found burningA
In Lent's black bordered dressB
So hand in hand with fitful March she lingersB
To beg the crowning graceB
Of lifting with her pure and holy fingersB
The veil from April's faceB
Sweet rosy April laughing sighing waitingA
Until the gateway swingsB
And she and Lent can kiss between the gratingA
Of Easter's tissue wingsB
Too brief the bliss the parting comes with sorrowD
Good bye dear Lent good byeE
We'll watch your fading wings outlined to morrowD
Against the far blue skyE
