At Sunset Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF AGAGHH IJIJKKL ABABCC DEDEFF AGAGHH IJIJKK| To night the west o'er brims with warmest dyes | A |
| Its chalice overflows | B |
| With pools of purple colouring the skies | A |
| Aflood with gold and rose | B |
| And some hot soul seems throbbing close to mine | C |
| As sinks the sun within that world of wine | C |
| - | |
| I seem to hear a bar of music float | D |
| And swoon into the west | E |
| My ear can scarcely catch the whispered note | D |
| But something in my breast | E |
| Blends with that strain till both accord in one | F |
| As cloud and colour blend at set of sun | F |
| - | |
| And twilight comes with grey and restful eyes | A |
| As ashes follow flame | G |
| But O I heard a voice from those rich skies | A |
| Call tenderly my name | G |
| It was as if some priestly fingers stole | H |
| In benedictions o'er my lonely soul | H |
| - | |
| I know not why but all my being longed | I |
| And leapt at that sweet call | J |
| My heart outreached its arms all passion thronged | I |
| And beat against Fate's wall | J |
| Crying in utter homesickness to be | K |
| Near to a heart that loves and leans to me | K |
