-
This Chasm Sweet upon my lifeB
I mention it to youC
When Sunrise through a fissure dropD
The Day must follow tooC
-
If we demur its gaping sidesE
Disclose as 'twere a TombF
Ourself am lying straight whereinG
The Favorite of DoomF
-
When it has just contained a LifeB
Then Darling it will closeH
And yet so bolder every DayI
So turbulent it growsJ
-
I'm tempted half to stitch it upK
With a remaining BreathL
I should not miss in yielding thoughM
To Him it would be DeathL
-
And so I bear it big aboutN
My Burial beforeO
A Life quite ready to departP
Can harass me no moreO
