A
-
first versionB
-
The Wind begun to knead the GrassC
As Women do a DoughD
He flung a Hand full at the PlainE
A Hand full at the SkyF
The Leaves unhooked themselves from TreesG
And started all abroadH
The Dust did scoop itself like HandsI
And throw away the RoadJ
The Wagons quickened on the StreetK
The Thunders gossiped lowD
The Lightning showed a Yellow HeadL
And then a livid ToeD
The Birds put up the Bars to NestsM
The Cattle flung to BarnsN
Then came one drop of Giant RainE
And then as if the HandsI
That held the Dams had parted holdO
The Waters Wrecked the SkyF
But overlooked my Father's HouseP
Just Quartering a TreeQ
-
second versionB
-
The Wind begun to rock the GrassC
With threatening Tunes and lowD
He threw a Menace at the EarthR
A Menace at the SkyF
-
The Leaves unhooked themselves from TreesG
And started all abroadH
The Dust did scoop itself like HandsI
And threw away the RoadJ
-
The Wagons quickened on the StreetsS
The Thunder hurried slowD
The Lightning showed a Yellow BeakT
And then a livid ClawU
-
The Birds put up the Bars to NestsM
The Cattle fled to BarnsN
There came one drop of Giant RainE
And then as if the HandsI
-
That held the Dams had parted holdO
The Waters Wrecked the SkyF
But overlooked my Father's HouseP
Just quartering a TreeQ
