It ceased to hurt me though so slow | B |
I could not feel the Anguish go | B |
But only knew by looking back | C |
That something had benumbed the Track | C |

Nor when it altered I could say | D |
For I had worn it every day | D |
As constant as the Childish frock | E |
I hung upon the Peg at night | F |

But not the Grief that nestled close | G |
As needles ladies softly press | H |
To Cushions Cheeks | I |
To keep their place | J |

Nor what consoled it I could trace | J |
Except whereas 'twas Wilderness | K |
It's better almost Peace | L |
