I Prayed, At First, A Little Girl Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDE FGHE IJEKE LEME NOPI

A
-
I prayed at first a little GirlB
Because they told me toC
But stopped when qualified to guessD
How prayer would feel to meE
-
If I believed God looked aroundF
Each time my Childish eyeG
Fixed full and steady on his ownH
In Childish honestyE
-
And told him what I'd like todayI
And parts of his far planJ
That baffled meE
The mingled sideK
Of his DivinityE
-
And often since in DangerL
I count the force 'twould beE
To have a God so strong as thatM
To hold my life for meE
-
Till I could take the BalanceN
That tips so frequent nowO
It takes me all the while to poiseP
And then it doesn't stayI
