Rhyme Scheme: A BCDC CEFG HICF JGKG LMNO CPCQ

A
-
I play at Riches to appeaseB
The Clamoring for GoldC
It kept me from a Thief I thinkD
For often overboldC
-
With Want and OpportunityC
I could have done a SinE
And been Myself that easy ThingF
An independent ManG
-
But often as my lot displaysH
Too hungry to be borneI
I deem Myself what I would beC
And novel ComfortingF
-
My Poverty and I deriveJ
We question if the ManG
Who own Esteem the OpulenceK
As We Who never CanG
-
Should ever these exploring HandsL
Chance Sovereign on a MineM
Or in the long uneven termN
To win become their turnO
-
How fitter they will be for WantC
Enlightening so wellP
I know not which Desire or GrantC
Be wholly beautifulQ
