Rhyme Scheme: A BCDE FGFG HIJK LMNO PQRQ STOT UVWV

A
-
I met a King this afternoonB
He had not on a Crown indeedC
A little Palmleaf Hat was allD
And he was barefoot I'm afraidE
-
But sure I am he Ermine woreF
Beneath his faded Jacket's blueG
And sure I am the crest he boreF
Within that Jacket's pocket tooG
-
For 'twas too stately for an EarlH
A Marquis would not go so grandI
'Twas possibly a Czar petiteJ
A Pope or something of that kindK
-
If I must tell you of a HorseL
My freckled Monarch held the reinM
Doubtless an estimable BeastN
But not at all disposed to runO
-
And such a wagon While I liveP
Dare I presume to seeQ
Another such a vehicleR
As then transported meQ
-
Two other ragged PrincesS
His royal state partookT
Doubtless the first excursionO
These sovereigns ever tookT
-
I question if the Royal CoachU
Round which the Footmen waitV
Has the significance on highW
Of this Barefoot EstateV
