'Hope' is the thing with feathersA
That perches in the soulB
And sings the tune without the wordsC
And never stops at allD

And sweetest in the Gale is heardE
And sore must be the stormF
That could abash the little BirdE
That kept so many warmF

I've heard it in the chillest landG
And on the strangest SeaH
Yet never in ExtremityH
It asked a crumb of MeH
