Rhyme Scheme: A BBCDDC EFGHHG EEIJJI

A
-
Delayed till she had ceased to knowB
Delayed till in its vest of snowB
Her loving bosom layC
An hour behind the fleeting breathD
Later by just an hour than DeathD
Oh lagging YesterdayC
-
Could she have guessed that it would beE
Could but a crier of the joyF
Have climbed the distant hillG
Had not the bliss so slow a paceH
Who knows but this surrendered faceH
Were undefeated stillG
-
Oh if there may departing beE
Any forgot by VictoryE
In her imperial roundI
Show them this meek appareled thingJ
That could not stop to be a kingJ
Doubtful if it be crownedI
