A
-
'Arcturus' is his other nameB
I'd rather call him 'Star '-
It's very mean of ScienceC
To go and interfereD
-
I slew a worm the other dayE
A 'Savant' passing byF
Murmured 'Resurgam' 'Centipede'E
'Oh Lord how frail are we'G
-
I pull a flower from the woodsH
A monster with a glassI
Computes the stamens in a breathJ
And has her in a 'class'I
-
Whereas I took the ButterflyF
Aforetime in my hatE
He sits erect in 'Cabinets'I
The Clover bells forgotE
-
What once was 'Heaven'K
Is 'Zenith' nowK
Where I proposed to goL
When Time's brief masquerade was doneK
Is mapped and charted tooE
-
What if the poles should frisk aboutE
And stand upon their headsI
I hope I'm ready for 'the worst'E
Whatever prank betidesI
-
Perhaps the 'Kingdom of Heaven's' changedE
I hope the 'Children' there Won't be 'new fashioned' when I comeM
And laugh at me and stareN
-
I hope the Father in the skiesI
Will lift his little girlO
Old fashioned naught everythingP
Over the stile of 'Pearl '-
