A
-
Although I put away his lifeB
An Ornament too grandC
For Forehead low as mine to wearD
This might have been the HandC
-
That sowed the flower he preferredE
Or smoothed a homely painF
Or pushed the pebble from his pathG
Or played his chosen tuneH
-
On Lute the least the latestI
But just his Ear could knowJ
That whatsoe'er delighted itK
I never would let goJ
-
The foot to bear his errandL
A little Boot I knowJ
Would leap abroad like AntelopeM
With just the grant to doN
-
His weariest CommandmentO
A sweeter to obeyP
Than Hide and SeekQ
Or skip to FlutesR
Or all Day chase the BeeS
-
Your Servant Sir will wearyS
The Surgeon will not comeT
The World will have its own to doN
The Dust will vex your FameU
-
The Cold will force your tightest doorV
Some February DayP
But say my apron bring the sticksW
To make your Cottage gayP
-
That I may take that promiseX
To Paradise with meS
To teach the Angels avariceX
You Sir taught first to meS
