The Secret Combination Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEFGHH IBIBAA JAJ AA

Her heart she locked fast in her breastA
Away from molestationB
The lock was warranted the bestA
A patent combinationB
She knew no simple lock and keyC
Would serve to keep out Love and meC
-
But Love a clever cracksman isD
And cannot be resistedE
He likes such stubborn jobs as thisF
Complex and hard and twistedG
And though we worked a many dayH
At last we bore her heart awayH
-
For Love has learned full many tricksI
In his strange avocationB
He knew the figures were but sixI
In this her combinationB
Nor did we for a minute restA
Until we had unlocked her breastA
-
First then we turned the knob to SighsJ
Then back to Words SincerestA
Then Gazing Fondly in Her EyesJ
Then Softly Murmured 'Dearest '-
Then next A Warm Embrace we triedA
And at A Kiss the door flew wideA
