| And penned it on a dainty sheet | B |
| Of pink note paper and I laid | C |
| The offering at Kate's feet | B |

| Oh Dearest Kate the lines begin | E |
| Oh Dearest Kate has married since | F |
| And now I strive fair Maude to win | E |

| And so to night I take my pen | G |
| And as my muse is slow of late | H |
| I use that valentine again | G |
| Just substituting Maude for Kate | H |
