An Exception Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG

In all romances old and newA
And in all lover's rhymesB
I find one rule that has held trueA
Since prehistoric timesB
-
The lover must if he indeedC
Be hit by Cupid's dartD
Grow pale sigh much neglect his foodE
And wholly lose his heartD
-
Now fain would I abide this ruleF
But I forsooth grow redG
And hot and stammer like a foolF
And only lose my headG
