A Satisfactory Reform Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBADAD EFGFHIJI KLHLHMNN NFHFEBOB EBOBAJNJ

A merry burgomasterA
In a burgh upon the RhineB
Said Our burghers all areC
Far too fond of drinking wineB
So the merry burgomasterA
When the burgomasters metD
Bade them look into the matterA
Ere the thing went farther yetD
-
And the merry burgomastersE
Did decide the only wayF
To alleviate the evilG
Without worry or delayF
Would be just to call a meetingH
Of the burghers great and smallI
And then open every wine caskJ
And proceed to drink it allI
-
For they said when we have swallowedK
Every drop that's in the landL
There can be no more of drinkingH
It is plain to understandL
So they called a monster meetingH
And the burghers small and greatM
Drank and drank until they were tooN
Tipsy to perambulateN
-
But there still was wine in plentyN
So in sooth the only wayF
Was to call another meetingH
So they called it for next dayF
Thus from day to day the burghersE
Met and swallowed seas of wineB
And they vowed the reformationO
Was a mission quite divineB
-
And today the worthy burghersE
In that burgh upon the RhineB
Still continue their great missionO
And still swallow seas of wineB
And they vow they will not falterA
In their great reforming taskJ
Till the last drop has been emptiedN
From the very last wine caskJ
