Contrasts Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH

I see the tall church steeplesA
They reach so far so farB
But the eyes of my heart see the world s great martC
Where the starving people areB
-
I hear the church bells ringingD
Their chimes on the morning airE
But my soul s sad ear is hurt to hearF
The poor man s cry of despairE
-
Thicker and thicker the churchesG
Nearer and nearer the skyH
But alack for their creeds while the poor man s needsI
Grow deeper as years roll byH
