The Tryst Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFCGCHCCDIJKLMNO PQRCNCCCPDCSDTDC

Impelled by memory in a wayward moodA
Reluctant yearning with a faithless mindB
I sought once more a long neglected spotC
A wooded upland bordered by the seaD
Whose tides were swirling up the reedy sandsE
Or floating noiseless in the yellow marshF
My way was wild The winds awaking smoteC
My face but as I passed a ruined wallG
Brambles and vines and waving blossoms dashedC
A frolic welcome like a summer rainH
Shouldering the hills against the murky eastC
Stood stalwart oaks and in the mossy sodC
Below the trembling birches whispered meD
Not here I reached the silence loving pinesI
And lingered The mists swept from the wooded hillsJ
And rolling seaward hid the anchored shipsK
So happy dreaming an old dream againL
Of keeping tryst in secret on the knollM
I wandered on listening in dreamy mazeN
To sounds I thought familiar the approachO
Of well known footsteps in the leafy pathP
A murmuring voice calling me by nameQ
Through the pine shafts the sunless light of dawnR
Stole Day was come My dream would be fulfilledC
Above the hills the sky began to blazeN
And ushering morn the west flushed rosy redC
Then the Sun leaping from his bed of goldC
Scattered cloud banners crimson gray and whiteC
There was my shadow in the leafy pathP
Alone none was to keep the tryst with meD
No voice no step among the hills I heardC
The joyous swallows from their nestlings flewS
Mad in the light with song Far out at seaD
The white sails fluttered in the eager breezeT
But Day was silent holding tryst with meD
My pilgrimage rewarded faith restoredC
