The Poet's Secret Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH AIAI

The poet's secret I must knowA
If that will calm my restless mindB
I hail the seasons as they goA
I woo the sunshine brave the windB
-
I scan the lily and the roseC
I nod to every nodding treeD
I follow every stream that flowsC
And wait beside the steadfast seaD
-
I question melancholy eyesE
I touch the lips of women fairF
Their lips and eyes may make me wiseE
But what I seek for is not thereF
-
In vain I watch the day and nightG
In vain the world through space may rollH
I never see the mystic lightG
Which fills the poet's happy soulH
-
Through life I hear the rhythmic flowA
Whose meaning into song must turnI
Revealing all he longs to knowA
The secret each alone must learnI
