Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFCF GHIH JKLK

Falling leaves and falling menA
When the snows of winter fallB
And the winds of winter blowC
Will be woven Nature's pallD
-
Let us then forsake our deadE
For the dead will surely waitF
While we rush upon the foeC
Eager for the hero's fateF
-
Leaves will come upon the treesG
Spring will show the happy raceH
Mothers will give birth to sonsI
Loyal souls to fill our placeH
-
Wherefore should we rest and rustJ
Soldiers we must fight and saveK
Freedom now and give our foesL
All their country should a graveK
