November Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK

Much have I spoken of the faded leafA
Long have I listened to the wailing windB
And watched it ploughing through the heavy cloudsC
For autumn charms my melancholy mindB
-
When autumn comes the poets sing a dirgeD
The year must perish all the flowers are deadE
The sheaves are gathered and the mottled quailF
Runs in the stubble but the lark has fledE
-
Still autumn ushers in the Christmas cheerG
The holly berries and the ivy treeH
They weave a chaplet for the Old Year's bierI
These waiting mourners do not sing for meH
-
I find sweet peace in depths of autumn woodsJ
Where grow the ragged ferns and roughened mossK
The naked silent trees have taught me thisL
The loss of beauty is not always lossK
