A Landscape Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSF TMUV

Between me and the woods along the bayA
The swallows circle through the darkling mistB
The robins breast the grass and they divideC
This solitude with me The rippling seaD
And sunset clouds the sea gulls' flashing flightE
From looming isles beyond I watch them nowF
With a new sense Where are the swallows' youngG
And where the robins' nests Year after yearH
They hover round this ancient house and II
Within as heedless saw the long years passJ
Nor ever dreamed a day like this might comeK
A day when mourners go about the streetL
For one who always loved his fellow menM
The windflower trembles in the woods the sodN
Is full of violets the orchards rainO
Their scented blossoms May unfolds its leavesP
Nature's eternal mystery to renewQ
Must man be less than leaf or flower and endR
If I go hence when this departed soulS
Has left no human tie to bind me nowF
When spring unfolds and I recall his pastT
Will their remembrance lead me here againM
To teach me that his spirit comes to showU
That Nature is eternal for man's sakeV
