Early Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB CDED FBGB D HIHI JKLK DMNM

Oh grieve not with thy bitter tearsA
The life that passes fastB
The gates of heaven will open wideC
And take me in at lastB
-
Then sit down meekly at my sideC
And watch my young life fleeD
Then solemn peace of holy deathE
Come quickly unto theeD
-
But true love seek me in the throngF
Of spirits floating pastB
And I will take thee by the handsG
And know thee mine at lastB
-
He and She and Angels ThreeD
-
Ruthless hands have torn herH
From one that loved her wellI
Angels have upborn herH
Christ her grief to tellI
-
She shall stand to listenJ
She shall stand and singK
Till three winged angelsL
Her lover s soul shall bringK
-
He and she and the angels threeD
Before God s face shall standM
There they shall pray among themselvesN
And sing at His right handM
