| And princely giver who hast brought the gold | B |
| And purple of thine heart unstained untold | B |
| And laid them on the outside of the wall | C |
| For such as I to take or leave withal | C |
| In unexpected largesse am I cold | B |
| Ungrateful that for these most manifold | B |
| High gifts I render nothing back at all | C |
| Not so not cold but very poor instead | D |
| Ask God who knows For frequent tears have run | E |
| The colors from my life and left so dead | D |
| And pale a stuff it were not fitly done | E |
| To give the same as pillow to thy head | D |
| Go farther let it serve to trample on | F |
