Stanzas On The Death Of Lord Byron Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBDBDD EFGFFHFHH IJIJJKJKK LALAAMCNM

He was and is not Graecia's trembling shoreA
Sighing through all her palmy groves shall tellB
That Harold's pilgrimage at last is o'erC
Mute the impassioned tongue and tuneful shellB
That erst was wont in noblest strains to swellB
Hush'd the proud shouts that rode Aegaea's waveD
For lo the great Deliv'rer breathes farewellB
Gives to the world his mem'ry and a graveD
Expiring in the land he only lived to saveD
-
Mourn Hellas mourn and o'er thy widow'd browE
For aye the cypress wreath of sorrow twineF
And in thy new form'd beauty desolate throwG
The fresh cull'd flowers on his sepulchral shrineF
Yes let that heart whose fervour was all thineF
In consecrated urn lamented beH
That generous heart where genius thrill'd divineF
Hath spent its last most glorious throb for theeH
Then sank amid the storm that made thy children freeH
-
Britannia's Poet Graecia's hero sleepsI
And Freedom bending o'er the breathless clayJ
Lifts up her voice and in her anguish weepsI
For us a night hath clouded o'er our dayJ
And hush'd the lips that breath'd our fairest layJ
Alas and must the British lyre resoundK
A requiem while the spirit wings awayJ
Of him who on its strings such music foundK
And taught its startling chords to give so sweet a soundK
-
The theme grows sadder but my soul shall findL
A language in those tears No more no moreA
Soon 'midst the shriekings of the tossing windL
The 'dark blue depths' he sang of shall have boreA
Our all of Byron to his native shoreA
His grave is thick with voices to the earM
Murm'ring an awful tale of greatness o'erC
But Memory strives with Death and lingering nearN
Shall consecrate the dust of Harold's lonely bierM
