Sonnets From The Portuguese Xxxviii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBAACACAD

First time he kissed me he but only kissedA
The fingers of this hand wherewith I writeB
And ever since it grew more clean and whiteB
Slow to world greetings quick with its O listA
When the angels speak A ring of amethystA
I could not wear here plainer to my sightB
Than that first kiss The second passed in heightB
The first and sought the forehead and half missedA
Half falling on the hair O beyond meedA
That was the chrism of love which love's own crownC
With sanctifying sweetness did precedeA
The third upon my lips was folded downC
In perfect purple state since when indeedA
I have been proud and said My love my ownD
