Sonnets From The Portuguese Xvii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACACACA

My poet thou canst touch on all the notesA
God set between His After and BeforeB
And strike up and strike off the general roarB
Of the rushing worlds a melody that floatsA
In a serene air purely AntidotesA
Of medicated music answering forB
Mankind's forlornest uses thou canst pourB
From thence into their ears God's will devotesA
Thine to such ends and mine to wait on thineC
How Dearest wilt thou have me for most useA
A hope to sing by gladly or a fineC
Sad memory with thy songs to interfuseA
A shade in which to sing of palm or pineC
A grave on which to rest from singing ChooseA
