Rhyme Scheme: ABBBBBBBCBCBCBMy future will not copy fair my past | A |
I wrote that once and thinking at my side | B |
My ministering life angel justified | B |
The word by his appealing look upcast | B |
To the white throne of God I turned at last | B |
And there instead saw thee not unallied | B |
To angels in thy soul Then I long tried | B |
By natural ills received the comfort fast | B |
While budding at thy sight my pilgrim's staff | C |
Gave out green leaves with morning dews impearled | B |
I seek no copy now of life's first half | C |
Leave here the pages with long musing curled | B |
And write me new my future's epigraph | C |
New angel mine unhoped for in the world | B |
