Sonnet Xxxvii: Pardon, Oh, Pardon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCECE

Pardon oh pardon that my soul should makeA
Of all that strong divineness which I knowB
For thine and thee an image only soB
Formed of the sand and fit to shift and breakA
It is that distant years which did not takeA
Thy sovranty recoiling with a blowB
Have forced my swimming brain to undergoB
Their doubt and dread and blindly to forsakeA
Thy purity of likeness and distortC
Thy worthiest love to a worthless counterfeitD
As if a shipwrecked Pagan safe in portC
His guardian sea god to commemorateE
Should set a sculptured porpoise gills a snortC
And vibrant tail within the temple gateE
