Sonnet Xxii: When Our Two Souls Stand Up Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD

When our two souls stand up erect and strongA
Face to face silent drawing nigh and nigherB
Until the lengthening wings break into fireB
At either curv d point what bitter wrongA
Can the earth do to us that we should not longA
Be here contented Think In mounting higherB
The angels would press on us and aspireB
To drop some golden orb of perfect songA
Into our deep dear silence Let us stayC
Rather on earth Belov d where the unfitD
Contrarious moods of men recoil awayC
And isolate pure spirits and permitD
A place to stand and love in for a dayC
With darkness and the death hour rounding itD
