Sonnet 19 - The Soul's Rialto Hath Its Merchandise Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: A ABBAACBADEDEDEXIX | A |
- | |
The soul's Rialto hath its merchandise | A |
I barter curl for curl upon that mart | B |
And from my poet's forehead to my heart | B |
Receive this lock which outweighs argosies | A |
As purply black as erst to Pindar's eyes | A |
The dim purpureal tresses gloomed athwart | C |
The nine white Muse brows For this counterpart | B |
The bay crown's shade Beloved I surmise | A |
Still lingers on thy curl it is so black | D |
Thus with a fillet of smooth kissing breath | E |
I tie the shadows safe from gliding back | D |
And lay the gift where nothing hindereth | E |
Here on my heart as on thy brow to lack | D |
No natural heat till mine grows cold in death | E |
