Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBBCCBDBDBDB

XVIIA
-
My poet thou canst touch on all the notesB
God set between his After and BeforeC
And strike up and strike off the general roarC
Of the rushing worlds a melody that floatsB
In a serene air purely AntidotesB
Of medicated music answering forC
Mankind's forlornest uses thou canst pourC
From thence into their ears God's will devotesB
Thine to such ends and mine to wait on thineD
How Dearest wilt thou have me for most useB
A hope to sing by gladly or a fineD
Sad memory with thy songs to interfuseB
A shade in which to sing of palm or pineD
A grave on which to rest from singing ChooseB
