| And princely giver who hast brought the gold | C |
| And purple of thine heart unstained untold | C |
| And laid them on the outside of the wall | D |
| For such as I to take or leave withal | D |
| In unexpected largesse am I cold | C |
| Ungrateful that for these most manifold | C |
| High gifts I render nothing back at all | D |
| Not so not cold but very poor instead | E |
| Ask God who knows For frequent tears have run | F |
| The colors from my life and left so dead | E |
| And pale a stuff it were not fitly done | F |
| To give the same as pillow to thy head | E |
