Patience Taught By Nature Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCBBCBBDBBD

'O DREARY life ' we cry ' O dreary life 'A
And still the generations of the birdsB
Sing through our sighing and the flocks and herdsB
Serenely live while we are keeping strifeC
With Heaven's true purpose in us as a knifeC
Against which we may struggle Ocean girdsB
Unslackened the dry land savannah swardsB
Unweary sweep hills watch unworn and rifeC
Meek leaves drop year y from the forest treesB
To show above the unwasted stars that passB
In their old glory O thou God of oldD
Grant me some smaller grace than comes to theseB
But so much patience as a blade of grassB
Grows by contented through the heat and coldD
