Pain In Pleasure Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE

A THOUGHT ay like a flower upon mine heartA
And drew around it other thoughts like beesB
For multitude and thirst of sweetnessesB
Whereat rejoicing I desired the artA
Of the Greek whistler who to wharf and martA
Could lure those insect swarms from orange treesB
That I might hive with me such thoughts and pleaseB
My soul so always foolish counterpartA
Of a weak man's vain wishes While I spokeC
The thought I called a flower grew nettle roughD
The thoughts called bees stung me to festeringE
Oh entertain cried Reason as she wokeC
Your best and gladdest thoughts but long enoughD
And they will all prove sad enough to stingE
