Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE| I HAVE been in the meadows all the day | A |
| And gathered there the nosegay that you see | B |
| Singing within myself as bird or bee | B |
| When such do field work on a morn of May | A |
| But now I look upon my flowers decay | A |
| Has met them in my hands more fatally | B |
| Because more warmly clasped and sobs are free | B |
| To come instead of songs What do you say | A |
| Sweet counsellors dear friends that I should go | C |
| Back straightway to the fields and gather more | D |
| Another sooth may do it but not I | E |
| My heart is very tired my strength is low | C |
| My hands are full of blossoms plucked before | D |
| Held dead within them till myself shall die | E |
