The Child On The Curbstone Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DBEB FGHG IBJB

The headlights raced the moon death facedA
Stared down on that golden riverB
I saw through the smoke the scarlet cloakC
Of a boy who could not shiverB
-
His father's hand forced him to standD
The traffic thundered slaughterB
One foot he thrust in the whirling dustE
As it were running waterB
-
As in a dream I saw the streamF
Scatter in drops that glistenedG
They flamed they flashed his brow they splashedH
And danger's son was christenedG
-
The portent passed his fate was castI
Sea farer desert rangerB
Tearless I smiled on that fearless childJ
Dipping his foot in DangerB
