They Could Not Tell Me Who Should Be My Lord Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDEEFGHIDJJ

They could not tell me who should be my lordA
But I could read from every word they saidB
The common thought Perhaps that lord was deadB
And only a story now and a wandering wordC
How could I follow a word or serve a fableD
They asked me Here are lords a plenty TakeE
Service with one if only for your sakeE
Yet better be your own master if you're able 'F
I would rather scour the roads a masterless dogG
Than take such service be a public foolH
Obstreperous or tongue tied a good rogueI
Than be with those the clever and the dullD
Who say that lord is dead when I can hearJ
Daily his dying whisper in my earJ
