I've been in love for longA
With what I cannot tellB
And will contrive a songA
For the intangibleC
That has no mould or shapeD
From which there's no escapeD
-
It is not even a nameE
Yet is all constancyF
Tried or untried the sameE
It cannot part from meF
A breath yet as stillG
As the established hillG
-
It is not any thingH
And yet all being isI
Being being beingH
Its burden and its blissJ
How can I ever proveK
What it is I loveL
-
This happy happy loveL
Is sieged with crying sorrowsM
Crushed beneath and aboveL
Between todays and morrowsM
A little paradiseM
Held in the world's viceM
-
And there it is contentN
And careless as a childO
And in imprisonmentP
Flourishes sweet and wildO
In wrong beyond wrongA
All the world's day longA
-
This love a moment knownQ
For what I do not knowR
And in a moment goneS
Is like the happy doeR
That keeps its perfect lawsM
Between the tiger's pawsM
And vindicates its causeM
