Love Of Fame, The Universal Passion (excerpt) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGEEHHII JJKKLMNNOO

Man's rich with little were his judgment trueA
Nature is frugal and her wants are fewA
Those few wants answer'd bring sincere delightsB
But fools create themselves new appetitesB
Fancy and pride seek things at vast expenseC
Which relish not to reason nor to senseC
When surfeit or unthankfulness destroysD
In nature's narrow sphere our solid joysD
In fancy's airy land of noise and showE
Where nought but dreams no real pleasures growE
Like cats in air pumps to subsist we striveF
On joys too thin to keep the soul aliveF
Lemira's sick make haste the doctor callG
He comes but where's his patient At the ballG
The doctor stares her woman curt'sies lowE
And cries My lady sir is always soE
Diversions put her maladies to flightH
True she can't stand but she can dance all nightH
I've known my lady for she loves a tuneI
For fevers take an opera in JuneI
And though perhaps you'll think the practice boldJ
A midnight park is sovereign for a coldJ
With colics breakfasts of green fruit agreeK
With indigestions supper just at threeK
A strange alternative replied Sir HansL
Must women have a doctor or a danceM
Though sick to death abroad they safely roamN
But droop and die in perfect health at homeN
For want but not of health are ladies illO
And tickets cure beyond the doctor's billO
