Were I A Bird Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CACA DEDE FGFG HIHI JKJK LMNM EOEO KPKP

Were I a bird free born to flyA
Aloof on two wee downy wingsB
My canopy would be the skyA
When rosy morn its dawning springsB
-
Were I a bird I'd sweetly singC
Earth's vesper song in tree tops highA
And chant the carol of the SpringC
To every weary passer byA
-
Were I a bird the sweetest voiceD
That human ear has ever heardE
The mocking bird would be my choiceD
For he's the sweetest singing birdE
-
Were I a bird my life would beF
In keeping with the Will divineG
I'd sing His carols full and freeF
In spreading oak and cony pineG
-
Were I a bird through air I'd roamH
Just flitting on the morning breezeI
In search of summer's sunny domeH
To live contentedly at easeI
-
Were I a bird I'd sing a tuneJ
For farmers seeking shady restK
Beneath the spreading oak in JuneJ
In swinging boughs that rock my nestK
-
Were I a bird I'd scale the cliffL
When dawns the bleak December dayM
Far from the ice and snow I'd shiftN
Until the fairest day in MayM
-
Were I a bird a mocking birdE
The King of birdie's singing sonsO
My music would fore'er be heardE
As I sweet sang to cheerless onesO
-
Were I a bird I'd seek my restK
When jocund Day blows out his lightP
In boughs that hover o'er my nestK
I'd sweetly sing Good Night Good NightP
