TO MY LOST BROTHERA
-
-
Ships the angry sea is lashingB
But I launch my little barkC
Though the thunder peals are crashingB
And the sea is pitchy darkC
See by lightning's vivid flashingB
How to shift my tattered sailD
Far across the billows dashingB
I am floating with the galeD
-
CHORUSE
-
Floating floating floating everA
On the stormy deep blue seaF
Far from father and dear motherA
And true love away from theeF
Go ye zephyrs sweetly ladenG
Cheer my loved ones in their wailD
Tell my wee sweet bright eyed maidenG
I am floating with the galeD
-
When the siren maids are wakingB
And are singing wild sea songsH
Dear they start my heart to achingB
For its love to thee belongsH
Now my love lorn soul is shakingB
With a spell of bitter wailD
And my heart is sadly breakingB
For I'm floating with the galeD
-
CHORUSE
-
Now my hopes are fading everA
Gloom is chasing 'way the blissI
Dear I know that I can neverA
Come thy ruby lips to kissI
But my heart will cling foreverA
To that love I oft did hailD
For those ties I can not severA
Though I'm floating with the galeD
-
CHORUSE
-
Dear my heart is ever longingB
Longs surfmen my bark to saveJ
Through my brain these thoughts are throngingB
Of a grave beneath the waveJ
Of loved ones my heart is wrongingB
And the belly of the whaleD
'Round my soul their ghosts are throngingB
As I'm floating with the galeD
-
CHORUSE
-
Dear I fain would be returningB
To the cove just where thou artK
While my languid breast is burningB
Light and love full out my heartK
But cruel Fate my hopes is spurningB
And winds blow against my sailD
While out Death my life is burningB
I'm still floating with the galeD
-
CHORUSE
