Rhyme Scheme: ABCDC EFGCH CGAGG EGHIJ A

I am the Gao flower high in a treeA
You are the grass Long Mai on the path sideB
When heat comes down after the dews of morningC
The flower grows pale and tumbles on the grassD
The grass Long Mai that keeps the fallen GaoC
-
Folk who let their daughters growE
Without achieving a husbandF
Might easily forget to fence their gardenG
Or let their radishes grow flower and rankC
When they could eat them ripe and tenderH
-
Come to me you that I see walkC
Every night in a red turbanG
Young man with the white turban come to meA
We will plant marrows together in a gardenG
And there may be little marrows for your childrenG
-
I will dye your turban blue and red and yellowE
You with the white turbanG
You that are passing with a load of waterH
I call youI
And you do not even turn your headJ

Song of AnnamA
