The Pobble who has no toesB
Had once as many as weC
When they said 'Some day you may lose them all '-
He replied 'Fish fiddle de dee '-
And his Aunt Jobiska made him drinkD
Lavender water tinged with pinkD
For she said 'The World in general knowsB
There's nothing so good for a Pobble's toes '-

The Pobble who has no toesB
Swam across the Bristol ChannelE
But before he set out he wrapped his noseB
In a piece of scarlet flannelE
For his Aunt Jobiska said 'No harmF
'Can come to his toes if his nose is warmG
'And it's perfectly known that a Pobble's toesB
'Are safe provided he minds his nose '-

The Pobble swam fast and wellH
And when boats or ships came near himI
He tinkedly binkledy winkled a bellH
So that all the world could hear himI
And all the Sailors and Admirals criedJ
When they saw him nearing the further sideJ
'He has gone to fish for his Aunt Jobiska'sB
'Runcible Cat with crimson whiskers '-

But before he touched the shoreK
The shore of the Bristol ChannelE
A sea green Porpoise carried awayL
His wrapper of scarlet flannelE
And when he came to observe his feetM
Formerly garnished with toes so neatM
His face at once became forlornN
On perceiving that all his toes were goneO

And nobody ever knewP
From that dark day to the presentQ
Whoso had taken the Pobble's toesB
In a manner so far from pleasantQ
Whether the shrimps or crawfish grayL
Or crafty Mermaids stole them awayL
Nobody knew and nobody knowsB
How the Pebble was robbed of his twice five toesB
-
VI-
-
The Pobble who has no toesB
Was placed in a friendly BarkR
And they rowed him back and carried him upS
To his Aunt Jobiska's ParkR
And she made him a feast at his earnest wishT
Of eggs and buttercups fried with fishT
And she said 'It's a fact the whole world knowsB
'That Pebbles are happier without their toes '-
