Imitation Of The Olden Poets Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFG

Time is a taper waning fastA
Use it man well whilst it doth lastA
Lest burning downwards it consume awayB
Before thou hast commenced the labour of the dayB
-
Time is a pardon of a goodly soilC
Plenty shall crown thine honest toilC
But if uncultivated rankest weedsD
Shall choke the efforts of the rising seedsD
-
Time is a leasehold of uncertain dateE
Granted to thee by everlasting fateE
Neglect not thou ere thy short term expireF
To save thy soul from ever burning fireG
