Early Sunday Morning Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCA ADBE FGCH BIJA KALM

I used to mock my father and his chumsA
for getting up early on Sunday morningB
and drinking coffee at a local spotC
but now I m one of those chumpsA
-
No one cares about my old humiliationsA
but they go on dragging through my sleepD
like a string of empty tin cans rattlingB
behind an abandoned carE
-
It s like this just when you thinkF
you have forgotten that red haired girlG
who left you stranded in a parking lotC
forty years ago you wake upH
-
early enough to see her disappearingB
around the corner of your dreamI
on someone else s motorcycleJ
roaring onto the highway at sunriseA
-
And so now I m sitting in a dimly litK
caf full of early morning risersA
where the windows are covered with sootL
and the coffee is warm and bitterM
